Morpeth Circular

In the CP Syd W led a walk along the river, while the rest went with Mick. Michael, Ray, Syd J & Norman all proudly showed off the new boots they had got for Xmas. Michaels were particularly flash with blue stripes, but it wasn't long before everyone's boots looked alike after following a very muddy path through the woods!

From CP turn rt & follow rd. Take FP on left through Howbum Wood. Take left FP around hospital and across Collingwood Common. Turn left onto rd to Hebron. Turn left towards Al and cross the rd to continue up to Heighleygate Garden Centre.

We all trooped in to the centre hoping to get a bacon sandwich only to be disappointed as they had stopped serving breakfasts 10 mins earlier.

Follow FP behind Heighleygate to Benridge Moor. Turn rt on rd to Pigdon then left on FP To Newton Park and on towards Mitford. The ford across the River Font was to deep to cross, requiring a short detour through the woods along the river bank and across the bridge into Mitford. We stopped at the Plough Inn, Mitford, for lunch and a couple of beers

Leaving Mitford, cross the river Wansbeck and turn left on FP below castle ruins. Continue through Borough Woods passing under the Al then across fields at Abbey Mills. Join riverside FP and follow this through the town to rejoin rd across bridge back into CP.
