Route Summary - Detchant, Belford, Warren Bank, Budle Point, Seahouses.

Starting at Detchant we headed towards Square Wood. As it was Remembrance Day we stopped for 2 minutes silence below Sunnyside Hill before carrying on into Belford where a Remembrance service was being held. We then headed east through Warren Mill, crossing the B1342 at Warren Bank.

The Farne Islands were clearly seen up ahead as we crossed a golf course, watching for flying balls, to reach the coast at Budle Point. From here we had a coastal walk mainly on the beach with impressive views of Banburgh castle on our right. This was hard going but luckily for us the wind was at our backs and the sand was firm near the waters edge although we had to watch out for the odd sneaky wave.

Heading towards the coast near Bamburgh Castle

Steve feeling the cold - and maybe regretting he did didn't wear long trousers!

As the tide was coming in we climbed up from the beach to join the Links Road which took us into Seahouses. The smell of fish and chips was tempting and some of us made mental notes to vist one on the way back to the bus.
